Company K, 1st Michigan Sharpshooters, Civil War

A new website dedicated to research on Michigan soldiers in the Civil War is here. It has some news about unmarked veteran’s graves being marked for the first time, and a ceremony at Andersonville National Cemetery, which was held in May 2010.

just clicked on the link to the new website dedicated to the Company K Sharpshooters, then clicked on the link to the book written by Chris Czopek.. If my memory serves me right on how many generations back he is, but my great-great grandfather, Marcus Otto, is the one on the cover. Despite the black and white copy photo, he resembles my mother. Thanks for the link..! awesome..!

I look forward to reading this book. I just learned that Marcus Otto (my gggranddad) was part of this Company as well. Looks like Stacey is a distant cousin. Kinda neat.

  3. The 2nd edition of “Who’s Who in Company K” was published in 2015. Go here: http://redoak1863.homestead.com/contact.html
